Wikispace Project Expectations

Individual Contributions (I):

  • Mostly equal participation in editing group pages. This means that you must help edit the final work presented on your page of the site. *Remember, I can track who is working.
  • Post at least two questions in the Discussion tab for each section of your reading (8 total).
  • Respond to at least two classmates' questions in the Discussion tab for each section (8 total).
  • Complete any other (I) assignments throughout the unit, including discussion questions posted by the teacher.

Group Page Contributions (G):

  • Work through each section of your page as a group. Creating your site should be a process.
  • Be courteous. Try to include everyone's thoughts. You'll have to get creative if you disagree. It should not look like one person's "section" of the page, unless you are answering individual questions.
  • Add to your page after each reading section. Even if there are no questions specific to the section, add to your descriptions each time.
  • These pages do not to have as much "flare" as analytical thought. Use you page to examine the characters in your novel - look at their actions, thoughts, speech and draw conclusions about the "Why?".

Final Project:

  • Work through ideas first with your group. Again, creating your site should be a process.
  • Be courteous. Try to include everyone's thoughts. You'll have to get creative if you disagree. It should not look like one person's or even one group's "section" of the page.
  • Add some flare. Use Widgets, pictures, videos. Make your site engaging.
  • Polish it as a team. When the final project is done, it should be clean and focused, yet still fun and engaging.

Days 10-12: The Final Project

As teenagers, you always hear what you should or shouldn't do from adults. This is your opportunity to give it back to some adults. For your final project, you will work as a class to create a mentor's guide for the adults in your life. Keep in mind your best and worst experiences with adults as you lay out your guidelines.
  • Each novel group will work as a team in the editing process.
  • With six editors on at a time, be sure to create boxes (using the horizontal rule) around your work. Otherwise, you may accidentally delete another groups thoughts.
  • Once you are merging ideas, the boxes should disappear. This should be a class project, not a piecing together of several group projects.
  • Don't be afraid to share ideas with another group.
  • Use the discussion tab to ask each other questions and to give ideas that still need sculpting.
  • Save and refresh the page frequently to see what other groups are contributing.
  • You must include thoughts and quotes from each of the novels you read. These can be for examples of both good and bad mentoring.
  • Take risks! Look for videos, include music, pictures, and other files to include on the page.
  • The final organization of the page is up to you, but make it a polished site!
