The Man Without a Face by Isabelle Holland tells, at first, a classic story of a student and a teacher. Charles wants more than anything to get out of his house and away from his mother and sister. That means studying all summer to pass a boarding school entrance exam. To better his chances, Charles enlists the help of Justin McLoed - a mysterious man with a scarred face. Through his companionship with Justin, Charles learns more than an academic curriculum.
